Baby Animals!

Because no one can say no to a baby animal.
(:

Otters!
 White tigers anyone?
No two zebra's have identical stripes.
Researchers believe that Zebra mommy's can tell their calves in the wild by their patters.
 Cheetah cub and Momma.
Did you know that a cheetah will stay with her kits until they're eighteen months,
but the siblings generally stay together? Sometimes forever.
 Momma and baby Koala.
Did you know that koala's have fingerprints identical to humans?
Personally, hippos are one of my favorites. :)
Hippo momma and her calf.
Did you know that giraffes have no vocal chords?
 Sweetest picture.
Their tongues are also blue to keep from getting sunburned.
And they have the same amount of vertebra  in their necks as we do!
Did you know that polar a polar bear's 'fur' is actually clear hollow wires?
Mhm, it's to help them keep warm, and repel the icy water!
And did you know that black bears purr when they're happy,
and cry when they're hungry or scared?
Hippos have the cutest butts. <3
What can I say... they're one of my favorites.
 As are elephants though.
Did you know that baby elephants will suck their trunk for comfort?
Just like a human child would suck their thumb.
Pin the tail of the cheetah?
Got you Momma!
 Baby Lynx.
Beautiful felines. (:
Elephants also have two finger-like muscles in their trunks that allow them
to pick up a single leaf off a bush, or even a pin from the ground.
 Opossums.
They're so cute! Several little babies clinging to Momma's back for a ride!
On 1902 Hunting trip, president Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt refused to shoot a defenseless bear.
Political Cartoonist Clifford Barryman immortalized the event with a cartoon of the president sparing the life of a frightened cub.
"Teddy's Bear" as the president's political mascot was known,
boosted Theodore Roosevelt's popularity, and inspired the first 'Teddy Bear'.
These are claimed to be bears..
But honestly, I'm not so sure...
They are adorable though!
A fully grown Giant Panda weighs 200 pounds.
Yet a new born panda cub is the size of a stick of butter.
Walrus 'calves?' deserve love too. (:
How adorable is he??
I learned something new while searching for these photos.
Did you know that Manatee's are some of the most gentle and playful sea creatures?
AND they're herbivores!
And well rats are just adorable.
I'm terrified of most sea life.
But this little baby Octopus is pretty adorable!
The quickest and easiest way of telling the difference between a Sea Lion, and a Seal?
The ears!
Sea Lions have little tiny flappy ears, while Seals just have little holes.
It's fairly easy to remember, just think, 'Lions have ears'.
Honestly I'm not sure what this is.
I'm betting a Hippo?
Whatever it is, it's adorable!
Because White Tiger cubs are fantastic and beautiful.
 Armadillo!
..sorry, I've no fun facts about armadillos. d:
How pretty. African Wild dog pup!
Momma Killer Whale and her baby.
What can I say.. I like elephants.
And last but not least,

I'm not a baby..
But I am freaking adorable.

Nightmare (A little Bit of a Rant pt 2)

The last thing I remember was the sun. The warm rays of the sun across green, tangled with a cooling breeze. It was in normality, just like yesterday or the day before. The same thing, day after day, and it was comforting. The wind against me, blowing from miles and miles off. It was telling me I was free. I was completely free. That’s when they came. They were quick, and I couldn’t run. They were everywhere, they were stronger. I screamed, no one heard. There was pain, they took me.

Where am I? It’s dark, and so many noises that I couldn’t make out where each individual one was coming from. The stench was unbearable, filling my senses, making me dizzy. The smell of death surrounded me. It was hot, but not what I had felt before- it was a sticky, humid hot. It was like heat radiated from everything around me.  Against the sweat plastering air, the ground was ice. Cold hard ice under my swollen body. It was then that I realized my body was broken. Pain seared through every limb, every nerve. Every touch and movement caused pain. I wept to no response. The noises grew louder as I came to. They were everywhere, hurrying past with others, some limp, some flailing- screaming in their arms. Others were dragged, or even thrown. Screams echoed off the walls, screams I’d never before heard. Screams no one should ever have to hear.

I could feel wet plastered on my body, red, warm. And it was everywhere, not just on me, but smeared across the hard floor, across the metal , the walls, them.  Pain. It surged through my body, crippled my stomach. I cried. A cry no one should ever have to cry. My throat was dry, my stomach felt hollow. They took them, one by one, crying, writhing, helpless. I watched it all. I tried to turn away, but my body wouldn’t allow it. Protesting with more pain, I couldn’t look away. Torture. All of us.

Then they came for me, too. My body convulsed as they took me up into their plastered, red arms. Twisting my already ruined body into more unbearable pain. I couldn’t take it. Murderer, they smelled of death. With every kick, with every struggle, the pain grew deeper into my nerves, into my bones. Surely I couldn’t be fixed from this state. I couldn’t tell what was broken and what wasn’t. It didn’t matter now though, there was no way out. They would do to me as they did to the others. Fear. Panic. The horrible clanking, grinding, beeping of a machine. Cold metal, alive, blood thirsty. I cried out. They didn’t care. It was like I wasn’t even there. I couldn’t understand. Echoes of torture, they cried their last cries. I cried with them. There was no escape.

(I don't understand how people can't see animal cruelty the way I do.)

Somewhat of a Rant

So feel free to apply your opinions, or questions or what you believe and whatnot.
But this is pretty much just a little up-date about what's been going on with me, and a subject I feel rather strongly about.

(Before you continue on, know that there is some graphic nature in this post.)

Around November I became a vegetarian, mainly because I love animals, and for years I've always hated the idea of eating something that was once alive, I could just never actually commit to it before then.
I ended up trying it, and now I've been a vegetarian for several months,
and honestly I'm considering becoming vegan.

About a week ago I saw a video called "Meet your Meat"
VERY terrible, disturbing video, I suggest that you don't watch it if you're anything like me and are sensitive to the subject. I somewhat wish I hadn't seen it.
Kinda goes without saying, but I cried for an  hour straight.
It was terrible...
But anyway, since I saw that video and did a bit of research on the matter,
(The video is a documentary about slaughter houses and how they treat their animals)
I've decided I might become vegan.

Honestly, maybe if they didn't torture the animals to such a disgusting extent, I might eat meat, or dairy.
But for now, I'm disgusted. =/
I didn't realize how tainted our world was until I did more research.
I don't know why I'm writing all of this, but it's how I feel.

To kill something that has feelings, has nerves, can feel pain, has a life, a family, etc, is just terrible.
Even the Egyptians used to have laws against hurting something that was alive, even if it was for food.
I dunno.
I just don't understand how someone can hurt something.
Especially so cute;<3

100,000+ cows are already dead when they get to the slaughterhouse a year. Due to the beatings they take, and the painful 'procedures' they have to endure on the way there.

Due to the Supply and Demand being so great,
more and more animals are being taken through the slaughter house,
meaning more and more of them go un-noticed.
Due to this, thousands and thousands more a year have to go through the terrible process, including even skinning and gutting, completely alive, and conscious.

Most of these animals are being force-fed so much in so little time that their bodies don't have time to grow with them, and without the proper muscle too. 'Causing hundreds if not thousands to starve, inches from their food and water because their legs have snapped under their own weight.

The chickens have their beaks seared off with a hot knife, (The most sensitive part of a chickens body) without any sort of painkiller, completely conscious and awake.
The pigs, even babies, have their genitalia, ears, tail, and sometimes teeth cut from their bodies, with no form of painkiller, and completely conscious.

The cows, go through similar, having their teeth, their horns, their tail and their utters cut from them with a knife, completely awake, conscious, painkiller free.

This is only a small 'procedure' these animals have to endure in their short, pain-filled lives.

And I for one have had enough.
This is why I do not partake in the eating of an animal,
and from now on, any product that comes from an animal.

Even the animals kept in the factories to produce milk, or eggs are treated with cruelty.

Not many people read this, I know,
but at least maybe the few of you who did might think more about it.
I don't care, so long as I might've saved at least one animal from being eaten by posting this.

You can find the video here;
Though I don't suggest you watch it if you are sensitive to this matter.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Who am I?

Okashi? The Candy Dish? Koneko? Who?

(What terrible picture quality, I KNOW!)
My name is Devon. I'm an artist, writer, (beginner) photographer, gamer, animal lover/rights activist, gamer, etc. I draw just about everything, from realism, portraits, anime, doodles, etc.
Writing; mainly short stories or poetry, but I've been working on a story for the past couple of years. Maybe one day- if I decide I like it enough, I'll see about getting it published. (:
Photography; Right now I have the crappiest camera ever. But I'm saving up to get a really nice one-- my inspiration isn't so much the photography itself, but more of another add-on to my art. I do love photography, but the photos that I take, I want to turn into paintings, or drawings instead.
I play just about any game. I'm mostly a PC or PlayStation kinda girl, but I enjoy the occasional Xbox, or Wii, even some of the more old school, like Nintendo 64, or Super Nintendo.(: My most recent obsession- Call of Duty<3
I LOVE ANIMALS. It's that simple. I dunno what more I can say. I'm a vegetarian, and don't support the consumption of meat, and I try and stay away from Dairy Products as much as possible. I have two cats and a dog, a mini Schnauzer; Yoshi, and my two kitties, Lala,(Tequila) and Fiki(Rafiki).

I also have a small obsession with anything Japanese.
kowaii, decoden, Anime,/Manga, the clothes, the styles, the language, and I've been learning for the past couple of months how to write in Japanese. ^.^

One day I will visit Japan<3

♥♥♥♥♥♥

My Tequi-Lala! (and myself! ;p)
